BS6-Ready Maruti Suzuki Swift & WagonR Launched; Prices Increased

The BS6-ready Swift is now priced between Rs 5.14 lakh – Rs 8.89 lakh.

Maruti Suzuki India has introduced the BS6 compliant Swift and WagonR hatchbacks in the country. In fact, the Swift is now also compliant to the new AIS-145 Safety Norms. That means, the hatchback offers more standard safety features including dual airbags, ABS with EBD, seatbelt reminder, rear parking sensor and high speed alert. It also provides better crash protection.

Both the vehicles also witness a price hike. While the BS6-ready Maruti Suzuki Swift petrol is now available in the price range of Rs 5.14 lakh – Rs 8.89 lakh, the updated WagonR (1.2L) is priced from Rs 5.10 lakh to Rs 5.91 lakh. Prices of the WagonR’s 1.0L petrol-powered variants start from Rs 4.34 lakh and go up to Rs 5.33 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi/NCR.

New Maruti WagonR 2019 Features

Just so you know, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno is India’s first premium hatchback to meet the new emission norms ahead of its deadline of 1st April, 2020. The Indo-Japanese carmaker also introduced the BS6-compliant Maruti Suzuki Alto along with the standard ABS and airbags. For ensuring cleaner emissions, the company has upgraded the hardware and software of the exhaust system. It uses several onboard sensors to upgrade engine control software.

The Maruti Suzuki Swift comes with 1.3L MJD diesel engine that’s good enough for 74bhp and 190Nm of torque. The petrol version derives power from a 1.2L K-Series motor producing a peak power of 81.80bhp with 113Nm of torque. Transmissions on offer are a 5-speed manual and an AMT. The Maruti Suzuki WagonR, that received a generation change early this year, is available with a 1.0L and 1.2L petrol engines that deliver power worth 67bhp with 91Nm and 82bhp with 113Nm respectively. The hatchback lineup comes with both manual and AMT gearbox options.
