BS6 MG Hector Diesel Priced at Rs 13.88 Lakh; Gets Expensive
After upgrading the petrol derivative, MG Motors has now introduced the BSVI compliant Hector diesel in the country. The BSVI MG Hector Diesel is now available at a starting price of Rs 13.88 lakh for the entry-level variant, which goes up to Rs 17.73 lakh for the top-end variant. The upgraded model is now expensive by up to Rs 45,000.

Powering the MG Hector diesel is the same 2.0-litre Fiat-sourced MJD-II turbocharged diesel engine, which is capable of producing 170bhp of power and 350Nm of torque. Power will be transmitted to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox. The Hector’s direct rival – the Tata Harrier also gets the same turbocharged diesel engine. However, it offers both manual and automatic gearbox options.
The MG Hector petrol BSVI is available in 7 variants priced between Rs 12.73 lakh and Rs 17.43 lakh. The Harrier is not available in petrol avatar; however, Tata has started testing the new 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine. The BSVI MG Hector petrol features the same 1.5L, 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 141bhp of power at 5,000rpm and 250Nm of torque between 1,600rpm – 3,600rpm. The petrol hybrid version comes with a 1.5L petrol motor coupled to a 48 Volt mild hybrid system that helps store energy and delivers 20Nm extra torque when required. MG Motors will also launch the three-row version of the Hector SUV in the country in the mid-2020. Called the Hector Plus, the SUV will be offered with 6-and 7-seat options. It will be powered by the same 2.0-litre diesel engine that powers the regular model. The SUV also receives subtle design changes in the form of revised grille, new headlamps and revised tail-lamp design.
