Maruti Suzuki Ertiga had received a generation change in late 2018. The MPV was made available with a 89bhp, 1.3L DDiS 200 diesel SHVS and a 103bhp, 1.5L K15 petrol SHVS BS4-compliant engine options. In April 2019, the carmaker introduced a new 1.5L DDiS 225 diesel engine that’s good for 94bhp and 225Nm.
In July 2019, Maruti Suzuki rolled out the BS6-compliant version of the 1.5L VVT petrol engine with minor price hike. Within the next one month, Maruti Suzuki discontinued the Fiat-sourced 1.3L diesel engine as it doesn’t meet the upcoming BS6 emission norms.
Now, the company is testing the Maruti Ertiga with BS6 diesel engine that was recently caught testing in the country. At the rear end, the test mule features a ‘BS6 FS’ badge. There is no clearly whether it’s a ‘Fiat-sourced’ unit or the company’s in-house developed BS6 diesel motor. Read – New Maruti Ertiga Gets 3 Stars In Global NCAP Crash Test
The report further claims that the BS6 Maruti Ertiga diesel could debut at the 2020 Auto Expo alongside the 2020 Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza facelift. The former will go on sale before the BS6 deadline (i.e. 1st April, 2020) or a few months later.
Currently, the Maruti Ertiga is available in a total of 10 variants including 6 petrol, 3 diesel and a CNG model. Prices of the petrol hybrid variants start from Rs 7.54 lakh and go up to Rs 10.5 lakh. The diesel models cost between Rs 9.86 lakh – Rs 11.2 lakh and the CNG variant is priced at Rs 8.87 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.
