A test mule of the BS6 Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 was recently spied testing near the company’s Manesar plant. The spotted model was equipped with the BS6 emission test equipment and carried a red number plate. No other changes are likely to be made to the BS6 Maruti Alto K10. Currently, the Maruti Alto K10 comes with a 998cc engine that’s good enough for 67.1bhp. It can be had either with a 5-speed manual transmission or an AMT gearbox. Prices of the hatchback’s BS6-compliant model could be higher by Rs 10,000 – Rs 12,000 than the BS4 version.

BS6 Maruti Alto K10 Spied

The Indo-Japanese carmaker has sold over 3 lakh BS6-compliant vehicles so far. In October 2019, the company retailed nearly 1 lakh BS6 units. Currently, Maruti Suzuki offers 8 BS6-compliant petrol models including Alto 800, WagonR, Swift, Baleno, Dzire, S-Presso, Ertiga and XL6.

The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and S-Cross will also receive the new BS6-ready 1.5L K15B SHVS petrol engine that makes a peak power of 103.5bhp with 138Nm. The carmaker will also discontinue the Fiat-sourced 1.3L Multijet diesel engine and replace it with the new BS6-compliant 1.5L DDiS 225 diesel motor.

The BS6 Maruti Ertiga diesel was recently caught on camera during its test rounds. The updated version of the MPV is reported to debut at the 2020 Auto Expo. Besides upgrading its product lineup for the upcoming BS6 emission norms, Maruti Suzuki will expand its utility vehicle product portfolio with two new models.
