BS6 Mahindra XUV500 Bookings Open At Dealership Level
In January 2020, we have brought you exclusive variant and engine details of the BS6 Mahindra XUV500. Prices of the vehicle will be announced in coming weeks. Prior to that, unofficial bookings of the SUV’s updated model have been commenced at dealership level. Buyers can pre-book the BS6-ready XUV500 by paying an initial sum of Rs 20,000.
The BS6 Mahindra XUV500 will come in three variants – W7, W9 and W11. Powering the SUV will be a 2.2L mHawk diesel engine meeting the BS6 (Bharat Stage VI) emission norms. The motor has been calibrated with SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction), a 2-way Oxidation Catalyst and DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter).
These devices filter multiple components of the exhaust gas and reduce its emission levels. While the 2-way Oxidation Catalyst helps with carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons treatment, SCR and DPF are used for NOx and PM treatment respectively. In its BS4 form, the XUV500’s 2.2L mHawk diesel engine delivers a peak power of 153bhp at 3750rpm and 360Nm between 1750rpm-2800rpm. The oil burner comes with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox option. The power and torque figures of the BS6-compliant motor will remain unchanged. The BS6 Mahindra XUV500 will continue to come with FWD (front-wheel-drive) system.
Prices of the Mahindra XUV500 BS6 are likely to be higher by up to Rs 1 lakh than BS4 version. At present, the W7, W9 and W11 variants are priced at Rs 14.18 lakh, Rs 15.88 lakh and Rs 17.16 lakh respectively (all, ex-showroom).
