BS6 Mahindra Scorpio Variant, Feature Details Revealed

BS6 Mahindra Scorpio

Mahindra & Mahindra will soon roll out the BS6-compliant Scorpio SUV in the country. Its official launch date, however, is yet to be announced by the carmaker. Prior to that, the variant and feature details of the BS6 Mahindra Scorpio have been leaked on the web. The SUV’s BS6-compliant version will be offered in four trims – S5, S7, S9 and S11. The existing entry-level S3 and top-end S11 AWD variants are likely to be scrapped out from the model lineup.

With the removal of the S3 variant, the Scorpio’s 2.5L diesel engine will also be discontinued. This motor, with a manual gearbox, delivers a top power of 75bhp and 200Nm of torque. The 2.2L mHawk diesel will be calibrated to meet the BS6 emission standards. Currently, the oil burner delivers two different power outputs – 120bhp with 280Nm and 140bhp with 320Nm.

The 120bhp version will be available on the S5 trim with a 5-speed manual gearbox, and the 140bhp version will be offered on the S7, S9 and S11 trims with a 6-speed manual transmission. Mileage figures are yet to be revealed. Read – 2021 Mahindra Scorpio Key Facts Explained

Save for the new entry-level S5 trim, the projector headlamps will be standard on the lineup. Features such as a reverse parking camera with gridlines, auto headlights, rain sensing wipers will be reserved for the top-end S11 variant. All four variants will get dual airbags, panic braking indication, seat belt reminders for front seats, ABS, reverse parking sensors, auto door lock and engine immobilizer as standard safety fitments.

Prices of the BS6 Mahindra Scorpio will be more or less similar to the existing model. At present, the SUV’s S5, S7, S9 and S11 variants are available at Rs 12.4 lakh, Rs 13.8 lakh, Rs 14.43 lakh and Rs 15.6 lakh respectively. All prices are ex-showroom.
