BS6 Mahindra Scorpio, BS6 Alturas Booking Details Out
Online bookings for the BS6 Mahindra Scorpio and BS6 Mahindra Alturas have been commenced in the country. Interested buyers can pre-book the updated Scorpio by paying a sum of Rs 5,000. Mahindra’s flagship Alturas SUV can be booked at a token amount of Rs 50,000. One must note that 4WD (four-wheel-drive) is the only variant available for online booking.
This hints that the carmaker might discontinue its 2WD (two-wheel-drive) version. Buyers can also pre-book the accessories including external chrome headlamps, blind spot mirror, a 7-inch headrest touchscreen with DVD player, car fridge, mood lamps, floor mats, roof carriear kit, mobile holder and many more.
Under the hood, the BS6 Mahindra Alturas will employ the same 2.2L, 4-cylinder diesel engine pushing out a peak power of 178bhp against 420Nm of torque. Transmission duties will be done by a 7-speed automatic gearbox. No other changes will be made to the vehicle. The SUV will continue to come in 5 colour options – Dsat Silver, New Pearl White, Napoli Black, Lake Side Brown and Regal Blue.
Talking about the BS6 Mahindra Scorpio, the updated SUV lineup will be spread across four trims – S5, S7, S9 and S11 – packed with an updated 2.2L mHawk diesel engine. The motor produces a maximum power of 153bhp and a peak torque of 360Nm.
In order to meet the BS6 emission standards, the carmaker has added a 2-way oxidation catalyst, diesel particulate filter and selective catalytic reduction to the oil burner. It also gets the new-generation eVGT (electronically controlled variable geometry turbocharger. Transmission choices will include the same 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic unit.
Mahindra & Mahindra has begun taking online pre-orders for the BS6 Mahindra XUV500. Prices of all three models are likely to be announced in coming weeks. Deliveries are expected to start post lockdown.
