BS6 Hyundai Santro Coming Soon; No Change In Mileage & Power

The Indian automobile industry will soon move to strictest BS6 (Bharat Stage 6) emission norms. While the car manufacturers have the deadline (31st March 2020) to introduce BS6 vehicles, some of them have already begun updating their product lineup including Hyundai India. The South Korean carmaker has already rolled out the new Grand i10 Nios and new Elantra with BS6-compliant petrol engines. Now, the company will upgrade its entry-level Santro hatchback to meet the upcoming BS6 emission standards.

According to a latest report, the BS6 Hyundai Santro will hit showrooms this month (i.e. December, 2019). Though, there is no official word on the same. Vikas Jain, Assistant Vice President – Sales, Hyundai Motor India, has confirmed that the mileage and performance figures of the BS6 models will remain unchanged. The hatchback can also be had with CNG kit that makes a maximum power of 59bhp with 84Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and an AMT.

In October 2019, the company introduced the Hyundai Santro Anniversary Edition wearing sporty black treatment along with subtle design changes. The special edition has been offered in Sportz and Sportz AMT trims priced at Rs 5.16 lakh and Rs 5.74 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively.

Recently, the hatchback was subjected to Global NCAP crash test and scored just 2 star rating in Adult and Child Protection.
