BS6 Honda Civic Diesel Launch in July 2020; Bookings Open

Japanese automaker, Honda has officially started taking pre-orders for the BS-6 diesel versions of the 10th generation Honda Civic sedan. The company has announced to launch the Honda Civic diesel in July 2020. Interested buyers can book the sedan through Honda Cars India Limited online sales platform “Honda from Home”, alongside the company’s authorized dealership network across the country.

The BSVI Honda Civic petrol is already on sale in the country in March 2019. The petrol version is powered by a 1.8-litre i-VTEC petrol engine that is capable of producing 140bhp at 6,500rpm and 174Nm of torque at 4,300rpm. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission). The sedan is claimed to offer a very responsive driving performance and good fuel economy.

The Honda Civic diesel version will be powered by a BSVI compliant 1.6-litre i-DTEC turbo diesel engine. This engine is capable of producing 118bhp of power and 300Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox. In the BS4 form, the diesel Civic was claimed to return an ARAI certified fuel economy of 26.8kmpl.

The new Honda Civic diesel rides on 17-inch alloy wheels shod with 215/50 R17 tyres. In terms of features, the new model gets dual-zone climate control, an electric sunroof, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, push-button start, automatic wipers, 8-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat and a smart key for different functions. Talking about safety and security, the BS6 Honda Civic diesel will have lane-keeping assist, six airbags, ABS with EBD, stability control, agile handling assist, hill start assist, an electronic parking brake with an auto-hold function, a walk-away auto-lock, etc.

The Japanese automaker is also gearing up for the launch of the new Honda City sedan. Adding to it, Honda will introduce the WR-V and the Jazz facelifts in the country in the next 1 month. In fact, bookings of the facelift models have already been started.
