BS6 Honda City Petrol To Launch Soon; Gets ICAT Certification

While the existing petrol variants are priced from Rs 10.03 lakh to Rs 13.09 lakh, the BS6-complaint version is likely to witness price hike by up to 10%. With the BS6 update, the Honda City petrol will get slightly more powerful.

In its BS4 form, the i-VTEC motor delivers power worth 117bhp against 145Nm of torque. The BS6-compliant gasoline unit will return a maximum power of 117.6bhp. The torque output, however, will remain unchanged. Read – Honda City Hatchback In The Works?

The Honda City also comes with a 1.5L i-DTEC diesel engine that doesn’t meet the upcoming BS6 emission norms. The oil burner develops a peak power of 99bhp with 200Nm of torque.

The sedan lineup comes with two transmission options – a 5-speed manual and a CVT (petrol only). Its mileage figures stand at 17.4kmpl (petrol) and 25.6kmpl (diesel). No other changes will be made to the BS6 Honda City petrol.

The Honda City is ready to enter into its new generation early next year. The all-new model of the sedan will have its world premiere next month in Thailand. Compared to the existing model, the new 2020 Honda City will be bigger, more spacious and feature-loaded.

With the generation change, the mid-size sedan could be benefited with Honda’s i-MMD mild hybrid technology. For the first time, the City might also be offered with diesel-CVT combination. It will also witness radical aesthetic changes.
