BS6-Compliant Toyota Fortuner Launching Soon
We reported earlier that the BS6 compliant Toyota Fortuner and Innova Crysta could cost around Rs 3 lakh more than the current BS4 models. Toyota dealers have already started taking pre-orders for the BS6 compliant Innova Crysta. Deliveries for the MPV will begin by the end of January 2020. The company is also readying the BSVI compliant Fortuner, which is likely to be launched around February-March 2020.
Engine details of the BSVI compliant Toyota Fortuner are yet to be revealed. With the upgrade, the Fortuner is expected to witness a price hike by 15% to 20%. That said, the upgraded most will get expensive by up to 5 lakh. The SUV is currently available in the price bracket of Rs 27.83 lakh – Rs 33.60 lakh. With new emission norms, the Fortuner is expected to cost over Rs 30 lakh.
The Toyota Fortuner SUV is currently available with 2 engine options – a 2.7-litre, 4-cylinder petrol and a 2.8-litre 4-cylinder diesel. The petrol engine is capable of producing 164bhp of power and 245Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox or a torque convertor automatic gearbox.
The diesel version of the SUV is powered by a 2.8-litre engine that churns out a maximum power output of 174bhp of power and 420Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a torque convertor automatic. Both rear wheel drive as well as all-wheel-drive versions are on offer.
Toyota has no plans to upgrade the diesel version of the Etios Liva hatchback, Etios sedan and Etios Cross to meet the BSVI emission norms. The company is currently working in joint venture with Maruti Suzuki to bring in new models in different segments.
