BS6 Benelli Imperiale 400 is all set to hit roads the post lockdown. While the official price announcement is likely to be made in coming weeks, a media report claims that the bike will get a price hike over Rs 40,000. The bike was launched in October last year at an introductory price of Rs 1.69 lakh and received a price hike in February 2020. Prices of the BS6 Benelli Imperiale 400 are reported to start from Rs 2.20 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The reason behind the massive price increase is said to be the high USD currency exchange rates. It will make the Imperiale 400 a more expensive deal than the Royal Enfield Classis 350 and Jawa that cost at Rs 1.46 lakh and Rs 1.73 lakh respectively.

At the heart of the updated Benelli Imperiale 400 will be the BS6-compliant, 374cc, air-cooled fuel-injected motor. Its BS4 version generates a peak power of 21PS at 5,500rpm and a peak torque of 29Nm at 4,500rpm. The official power and torque outputs of the updated BS6 engine are yet to be revealed. The bike’s BS6-compliant model will continue to feature a 300mm single disc with a two-piston floating calliper and a 240mm front and rear disc brakes respectively. It will be further assisted by the standard dual-channel ABS (anti-lock braking system). The Imperiale 400 will run on the same 100/90 – 19 front and 130/80-18 rear tyres and wire-spoke wheels.
