BS4 Honda City Diesel Model Is No More On Sale

Honda Cars India has removed the BS4 City diesel model from its official website. This hints that the sedan’s diesel variants have been discontinued and now it’s available with the petrol engine only. The carmaker has decided to re-introduce the City diesel with the new-generation model that’s launch has been delayed due to COVID-19 pandemic and the national lockdown.  The BS4 Honda City diesel was available with a 1.5L engine that was good enough for 97.9bhp and 200Nm of torque. The oil burner was paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The fifth-generation City will come with the BS6-compliant version of the 1.5L diesel unit that’s likely to be hooked with a 6-speed manual and a CVT (continuously variable transmission) automatic gearbox.

BS4 Honda City Petrol

As of now, the City sedan is available with the 1.5 petrol motor producing a top power of 118bhp against 145Nm of torque. Prices of the petrol variants range between Rs 9.91 lakh – Rs 14.31 lakh. The diesel model that has been discontinued was priced from Rs 11.17 lakh to Rs 14.22 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.

The 2020 Honda City will be significantly bigger and more upmarket than the current generation. The new model is 109mm longer, 53mm wider and 6mm shorter than before measuring  4,549mm in length, 1,748mm in width and 1,489mm in height. It will also be heavier (by 65kgs) than the current generation.

Recently, the fifth-generation City was subjected to the ASEAN NCAP crash test and managed to score 44.83 points for the adult occupant protection, 22.82 points for child occupant protection and 18.89 points for safety assist technologies.

Reports suggest that the new City might hit showrooms in month of May. Though, there is no official word about its launch date and delay. We will inform you as soon as the carmaker announces its launch date.
