BMW 7 Series ActiveHybrid India launch on July 23

BMW 7-Series Active Hybrid

German luxury car manufacturer BMW will launch the 7 Series ActiveHybrid in the Indian car market on July 23. It will be the first ever BMW hybrid car to be offered in the country. The company is also preparing to introduce its i8 plug-in hybrid in India by the year end.

The 7 Series ActiveHybrid is likely to be powered by a 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder engine that produces 320bhp and 450Nm of peak torque. This twin-turbocharged engine is combined with an electric motor which returns a top power of 55bhp and 210Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to rear wheels of the saloon via the ZF eight-speed automatic transmission gearbox. The vehicle accelerates to 100kmph from standstill in mere 5.7 seconds and hits an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph. This 7-Series ActiveHybrid returns 14.7kmpl of fuel efficiency.

Currently, the BMW is offering four variants of the 7-Series in the country- 730 Ld, 740 Li, 750 Li and the flagship 760 Li. The ActiveHybrid will sit below the flagship model and is likely to be priced around 1.10 crore. The hybrid saloon features special displays on the instrument cluster to display the real-time efficiency and status of the hybrid components. A hybrid badging is also visible on the boot, the C-pillar and door sills.
