Further expanding its highly popular 3 Series lineup, BMW has introduced a new 320d Edition Sport in India at Rs 38.60 lakh (ex-showroom). Produced locally at the carmaker’s Chennai plant, the new BMW 320d Edition Sport is claimed to further reinforce the dynamic and sporty character of the 3 Series. This new variant comes with a pack of addition comfort and safety features along with a more responsive powertrain. On the exterior, the sporty high-gloss black treatment adds more to its appeal.
Under the hood, the BMW 320d Edition Sport features the same 2.0-litre TwinPower Turbo diesel engine that does duty to the regular model. Though, BMW has tuned this motor for achieving better power and performance. Paired with BMW’s 8-speed Steptronic Sport automatic gearbox, this turbocharged unit can do 0-100kmph in just 7.2 seconds while maintaining a top speed of 250kmph. The auto box comes with steering mounted paddle shifter. The new 3 Series variant churns out a maximum power output of 188bhp against 400Nm torque between 1750 – 2500rpm. Features such as standard control functions and driving modes make it a more fun to drive machine. The new 3 Series variant offers four driving modes – Comfort, ECO PRO, Sport and Sport+. The saloon also gets brake-energy regeneration, auto start-stop 50:50 weight distribution and electronic power steering. Mileage figure of the 320d Edition Sport stands at 22.69kmpl.
Sporting high-gloss black treatment along the grille, headlamps and bumper, the BMW 320d Edition Sport looks slightly different from the standard model. The saloon comes in a choice of one non-metallic – Alpine White – and two metallic shades – Mediterranean Blue and Black Sapphire. Inside, the premium material quality and multiple upholstery combinations give a sporty appeal to the sedan. Feature-wise, the BMW 320d Edition Sport comes loaded with a 6.5-inch colour display with CD drive, iDrive controller, BMW Apps, Bluetooth and USB/AUX IN connectivity, park distance control (PDC)and rear view camera. On safety front, the car gets 6 airbags, ABS with brake assist, cornering brake control (CBC) and dynamic stability control (DSC) with dynamic traction control (DTC). Features such as side-impact protection, Run-flat tyres (RFT) with reinforced sidewalls, ISOFIX child seat mounting, electronic vehicle immobiliser, emergency spare wheel and crash sensor are also on offer.
