Big SUV Launches From India’s 4 Top Carmakers In Early 2023

The first three months of 2023 will be action-packed for the Indian automobile industry. The Delhi Auto Expo is all set to return in the month of January, which will be followed by several exciting new car launches. Here’s a brief on the upcoming new SUVs from India’s 4 top carmakers (Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra), which are scheduled to launch in early 2023.

Maruti Suzuki will unveil its new compact SUV at the 2023 Delhi Auto Expo in January. The model is reported to witness a market launch after its first public appearance at the auto event. Internally known as Maruti Baleno Cross, the SUV will share its design elements and features with the Baleno hatchback. Rumour has it that the automaker might use Toyota’s DNGA-A platform for its new compact SUV. Under the hood, the model is likely to feature a 1.0L Boosterjet turbo petrol motor and a mild hybrid powertrain. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will be on offer. More details here…

Hyundai Creta facelift will be the first big launch from the South Korean automaker in 2023. The SUV’s updated model has already been launched in South Africa. The new Creta will receive comprehensive changes inside and out, while its engine-gearbox combinations will remain intact. On the exterior, it will feature a new ‘parametric grille’ merging neatly with LED DLRs, rectangular-shaped headlamps, slimmer front bumper, wider air-inlet, new LED taillamps and redesigned tailgate. Inside, there will be an updated BlueLink connected car tech and digital instrument cluster. Though, the major upgrade will come in the form ADAS (advanced driver assistance system). Tata Harrier/Safari Petrol

New Tata Harrier 2023 facelift

Tata Motors hasn’t yet confirmed its plan for early 2023. Though, the reports suggest that the carmaker might roll out the Harrier and Safari SUVs with a new petrol powertrain. Both SUVs could be offered with a 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine that will essentially be the more powerful version of the Nexon’s 1.2L turbo petrol motor. The new gasoline unit will deliver power around 160bhp and 250Nm of torque. Transmission options might include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor or DCT automatic. Mahindra XUV400

Mahindra XUV400 EV

The home-grown automaker has confirmed that its all-new Mahindra XUV400 electric SUV will go on sale by the of January 2023. Official bookings for the model will begin in the first week of January. Initially, the electric SUV will be sold across select 16 cities. Powertrain setup of the vehicle includes a 39.5kWh battery pack using Li-ion cells. The unit supports both fast DC and standard charging. It delivers a claimed range of 456km on a full charge. The new Mahindra XUV400 is capable to do 0 to 100kmph in 8.6 seconds and offer a maximum speed of 150kmph. It offers three driving modes, namely, Fun, Fast and Fearless. More details here…
