Bajaj Urbanite Scooter Design Sketches Leaked; Coming in 2019
With Urbanite nameplate, Bajaj Auto will officially enter into the scooter segment
It is no secret that Bajaj will launch an all-electric scooter in the Indian market. If a latest media report is to be believed, the company is also working on petrol-powered scooters. These scooters could be launched under the newly-created brand, Urbanite. The Urbanite brand will officially be introduced in the second half of this year, most probably around Diwali.
Bajaj officials repeatedly deny the existence of new scooter under Bajaj nameplate. This latest development suggests that Bajaj could use the Urbanite nameplate to enter into scooter segment – electric as well as petrol. By doing this, the homegrown automaker will have 3 brands – Bajaj Auto for bikes, RE for commercial vehicles and Urbanite for scooters and intra-mobility solutions.

The design sketches of the upcoming scooter have also been leaked on the internet. The sketches reveal a very elegant and styling design approach for the scooter. It shares some of the resemblance with the Vespa scooters. The scooter gets single-sided front suspension with anti-dive, alloy wheels and curvy body panels. Technical details of the scooter are yet to be revealed, but it is likely to get several high-end features.
The report further claims that Bajaj is also working on new concepts like foldable bike, single-wheel electric urban transport vehicle and new mobility solutions.
