Bajaj Urbanite Electric Brand India Debut This Year
Bajaj’s Urbanite electric vehicle brand will make its India debut in the next 6 – 9 months.
Bajaj Auto will introduce its new electric vehicle brand – Urbanite – in the first half of next fiscal year (i.e. in the next 6 – 9 months). According to a fresh media report, the first model to come out of Bajaj Urbanite stable will be a scooter. The company will set up a new sales and distribution network for its Urbanite electric two-wheelers.
In an interview with MoneyControl, Rakesh Sharma, Director, Bajaj Auto stated, “With the Urbanite we are really trying to look at innovative and very futuristic intra-city mobility solutions. “We will look at a separate network for this (electric vehicles) because that needs to be presented very differently to a very different target group,” he further added.
Bajaj Urbanite electric bikes and scooters will carry a new design language and premium features along with eco-friendly engine. The new electric vehicles could be developed from scratch or based on the existing Bajaj models. Read – All-New Bajaj Avenger Motorcycles Under Development
The Pune based two-wheeler manufacturer will also export its Urbanite electric motorcycles and scooters. Besides this, the company is also working on fully electric version of the Bajaj Qute three-wheeler. The electrified Qute will hit roads in coming years.
