Bajaj-Triumph Cruiser Could Rival Royal Enfield, Jawa & Honda CB350

Bajaj and Triumph had announced their long-term, non-equity strategic partnership in 2017. Under the partnership, the duo will develop a new range of mid-capacity motorcycles. Earlier this year, the company has announced that the new motorcycles will be manufactured at Bajaj’s Chakan plant. The new motorcycles are most likely to be retailed under the Triumph nameplate.

What’s interesting is that Bajaj could also introduce a neo-retro styled classic motorcycle to rival the likes of the Royal Enfield Classic, Jawa Classic and the newly-introduced Honda CB350. The company is already selling the Dominar 400 as a power cruiser, which is targeting a different set of buyers.

With the arrival of Honda CB350, the competition in the entry-level cruiser segment is on rise. It is expected that Bajaj-Triumph will be positioned against the RE Classic 350, Jawa Classic and the new CB350. The motorcycle is likely to feature retro-classic styling with circular headlamp, digital instrument console, alloys and a flat single-piece seat.

Disc brakes and dual-channel ABS (Anti-Locking Braking System) is most likely to offer as standard. The new motorcycle will be designed and developed on the new vehicle platform with engine capacities ranging from 200cc to 750cc. The motorcycle will be produced by Bajaj’s Chakan plant and will be sold under the Triumph nameplate. Previous reports claim that the new bikes could also use Triumph’s ‘heritage’ names. These bikes will be produced for India as well as international markets.
