Bajaj-Triumph 1st Motorcycle & A new 125cc Bike Launch In 2023

Bajaj and Triumph are jointly working on a new range of affordable motorcycles for India as well as global markets. In fact, two differently styled motorcycles – Scrambler and Roadster – have already been spotted testing on foreign soil. However, the JV is yet to reveal the exact details of the first motorcycle to be launched in the country.

Speaking at stakeholders meet, Rajiv Bajaj, MD and CEO, Bajaj Auto talked about the brand’s formula AI (Affordable Inspiration) and “providing the customer with an irresistible offer to open their wallets”. The report claims that the Triumph motorcycles they were working on had progressed and would be introduced in 2023. A new factory will also be opened at Chakan to produce the new Bajaj-Triumph motorcycles.

The report claims that Bajaj would be launching a new product in FY24 in the under-125cc segment in India. Adding to it, the homegrown automaker will be introducing at least one new Chetak every year. These models would not just be for the Indian market but for global markets.

The previous spy images reveal that the Bikes come with Triumph like styling elements. The motorcycles feature rounded fuel tank with knee recesses, and round headlamp. It comes with a large rectangular digital display (similar to the one offered on the KTM Bikes) behind the headlamps.

The naked bike had a single-seat design, while the scrambler comes with a split seat set-up. The later had handguards, a handlebar brace, a luggage rack and a windscreen on the scrambler bike. The motorcycles were equipped with a single-cylinder engine with engine cases similar to the Bonnevilles. The spotted model had large radiator, which suggest that the engine will be a liquid-cooled unit. It will have a 4-valve DOHC set-up, which we have already seen on KTMs. The Scrambler has a twin stack exhaust unit.

It is expected that the new Bajaj-Triumph motorcycle range is likely to get the 200-250cc motor. However, the spy images reveal that the motorcycles could be fitted with bigger 350-400cc engine. The company could offer the new motorcycle range with multiple engine sizes. Bajaj could offer the differently tuned versions of KTM’s engines.  Bajaj had patented a cost-effective VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) concept and these new engines could use the same technology.

The new motorcycles are likely to be based on a tubular steel frame, which is similar to the new Pulsar 250s. The spotted bike gets USD front forks, rear monoshocks and bolt-on rear subframes. The motorcycle had 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels.
