Bajaj Qute Quadricycle Launch In Next 3-6 Months – Report

Bajaj Auto, India’s largest 3-wheeler maker is planning to launch the long-awaited quadricycle ‘Qute’ in the country in the next 3-6 months. For people not in the know, the vehicle was first showcased at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo as ‘RE60’. While this affordable quadricycle is yet to go on sale in India, Bajaj is already exporting the Qute to several international markets.

In India, the launch has been delayed due to regulatory hurdles. Earlier this yeear, the Supreme Court asked the government to consider the suggestions made on the issue of safety and emission standards. The final notification on the quadricycle policy is expected to come in the next one week. Rakesh Sharma, president – international business, Bajaj Auto, said, “We are quite delighted after a strong pursuit of 3-5 years and encountering various court cases and ministries, the ministry of road transport and highway will be uploading the notification shortly – paving the way for subsequent entry of Qute on the Indian roads. The Bajaj Qute quadricycle will come as a commercial vehicle. It will be launched as a safer alternative to a three-wheeler. Adding to it, Bajaj Auto has commissioned a plant to produce 5,000 quadricycles a month. The Qute is powered by a 217cc, four-stroke, single cylinder engine that produces 13bhp of peak power and 20Nm of torque, and is paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox. This quadricycle is claimed to offer a top speed of 70kmph. In terms of dimensions, the Qute is 2,752mm in length, 1,312mm in width, 1,650mm in height and has a wheelbase of 1,925mm.
