Bajaj Pulsar CS400, after making its debut at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo, has finally entered the testing phase as one of its test mules was recently spotted. This also indicates that the 400cc sportbike could be the next product from Bajaj. It will be the first larger displacement (400cc) Pulsar ever since the brand came into existence. The Bajaj Pulsar CS400 is estimated to be priced below Rs. 2 lakh (ex-showroom).

Since the test mule is completely camouflaged, minimal details are visible. The noticeable features include headlamp cluster, LED tail lights, exhaust system, a digital display and twin instrument console. The bike seems to retain most of its design elements that were shown on the concept. The final version of bike might also show up with aluminium or alloy foot-pegs and a full digital instrument cluster. There could also be projector or optional LED headlamp, and LED taillight.

Unlike the concept that was equipped with Upside Down (USD) unit, the production-ready model will feature the conventional forks up front suspension system. It might also get anti-lock braking system (ABS) and a slipper clutch. Power from the Bajaj Pulsar CS400 is likely to come from a 373cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine with fuel-injection system. It’s the same engine that does duty in the KTM Duke 390. Paired to a 6-speed transmission, this power mill offers 43bhp at 9,000rpm and 35Nm of torque at 7,000rpm.
Besides the Pulsar CS400, Bajaj Auto is planning expand its Pulsar lineup with different models such as 150NS, 180NS and RS400. The company recently launched the Bajaj V15 sport commuter that has received over 10,000 bookings so far.
