We reported earlier that Bajaj Auto is working on the next generation Pulsar range, which includes the all-new Pulsar 150 and the Pulsar 250. The next generation Bajaj Pulsar 250 has been spotted testing for the first time around Pune. The spotted model was fully covered in thick cloth; however, it looks production ready.
The report claims that Bajaj Auto has developed an all-new platform for the new generation Pulsar bikes. The Pulsar 250 will be the first product to be based on this platform. The spy images reveal that the new motorcycle will have an all-new design, new powertrain and features. The new motorcycle looks bigger than the 200cc NS and the RS. The motorcycle is likely to feature all-LED lighting system.
The new Bajaj Pulsar 250 is reportedly to be powered by a brand new engine. The new engine is expected to be an oil-cooled motor and not a liquid-cooled unit. By doing this, Bajaj would aim to achieve competitive pricing for the new motorcycle. The Pune-based manufacturer is likely to follow the Pulsar 220F strategy, which sells significantly more than the Pulsar NS200. The engine is likely to produce around 24bhp of power and will offer higher torque than the Pulsar NS200. The engine will be coupled to a newly developed 6-speed gearbox.
Previous media reports suggest that the upcoming Bajaj Pulsar 250 will be based on the KTM Duke 250 platform. It was speculated to be powered by a slightly tuned version of the 250 Duke’s engine. While powering Duke 250, the KTM’s 248.8cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine produces 30PS of power at 9,000rpm and 24Nm of torque at 7,500rpm. However, the Pulsar 250’s engine will be de-tuned for higher fuel efficiency. It is likely to offer better low- and mid-range performance. ABS system will come as standard, while slipper clutch could also be on offer. The motorcycle will have telescopic front forks and monoshock suspension at the rear.
The Bajaj Pulsar 250 is expected to be launched during the festive season, before Diwali. The new motorcycle will be positioned against the Yamaha FZ25 and the Suzuki Gixxer 250.
