Bajaj Platina 100 ES Disc Brake Variant Launch Price Rs 59,373

Bajaj Auto has further extended the Platina commuter motorcycle lineup with a new electric start variant. The new Bajaj Platina 100 ES disc brake model has been priced at Rs 59,373. The other two variants – Platina 100 and Platina KS alloy drum brake – are available at Rs 49,261 and Rs 55,546 respectively. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.

The new variant receives a disc brake at the front, which is the only change made to the model. Design, features and components of the Bajaj Platina ES disc brake are exactly similar to the other two variants. The bike uses a BS6-compliant 102cc, single-cylinder engine paired to a 4-speed gearbox.

The air-cooled motor pushes out a peak power of 7.9bhp at 7,500rpm and 8.34Nm of torque at 5,500rpm. It can achieve a top speed of 90kmph and offer a claimed mileage of 96.9kmpl. Similar to the regular ES variant, the new Bajaj Platina ES disc brake model features LED DRLs positioned above the headlamp, dark plastic visor and ribbed seat.

In other news, the Pune-based two-wheeler maker is planning to develop a new range of mid-capacity motorcycles in partnership with Triumph Motorcycles. The first model is likely to be a 200cc bike that’s reported to be priced below Rs 2 lakh. The company has confirmed that the Bajaj-Triumph 200cc bike will arrive on its scheduled timeline – i.e. sometime in 2022.

Bajaj Auto might also reopen bookings for the Chetak electric scooter in coming weeks. The bookings were halted due to interruption in supply chain. The company sources battery cells for its electric vehicles from China. The bikemaker doesn’t directly purchase battery cells from the Chinese exporter, it’s one of its vendor partners that imports battery packs for the Chetak.
