Bajaj Auto recently trademarked the name ‘Neuron’ for one of its future offerings. Though, there is no clarity yet if it would be used for an upcoming two-wheeler, three-wheeler or something else. The reason we say that is because the application’s description includes two-wheelers, three-wheelers, engines, parts and components. The latest speculations suggest that the Neuron could be Bajaj’s answer to the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and the newly-launched Honda CB350.
With the arrival of new entrants, the competition gets fiercer in the neo-retro motorcycle segment. Bajaj Auto, which already has powertrain and technology, might foray into this growing segment. If this happens, the Bajaj Neuron might be a sub-400cc cruiser that’s likely to come with Dominar’s 373.3cc, single-cylinder engine. Rumour also has it that the Bajaj Neuron could be a new smartphone connectivity feature that might be introduced on the Dominar 400 and select Pulsar models.
In other updates, Bajaj and Triumph will jointly launch a range of mid-capacity motorcycles in the country. The first model to roll out under this partnership will be a cruiser that will hit roads sometime in 2022. It will be a 200cc bike that could be based on the Triumph Tiger or Bonneville. Powertrain of the new Bajaj-Triumph motorcycle is likely to include a 200cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor. Reports suggest that the new model is likely to be priced under Rs 2 lakh.
Both bikemakers is reportedly working on a 700cc displacement motorcycle that will be a flagship model from Bajaj and an entry-level model from Triumph. It might carry Bajaj Avenger 700 that will be positioned against the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and Royal Enfield Continental GT 650. Powering the model could be a twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that will comply with the BS6 and Euro emission norms.
