Bajaj Chetak Electric Scooter To Launch In Phased Manner
Bajaj Auto’s first electric scooter that will be come under the Urbanite sub brand will be launched in a phased manner across the nation. In the first phase of operations, the new e-scooter from the home-grown two-wheeler maker will be retailed in Bengaluru and Pune.
While Bengaluru has a decent charging infrastructure, Pune is the company’s headquarter. The report further says that the Pune-based two-wheeler manufacturer will setup charging stations at every customer’s home. Such personal charging service will be a slightly costlier affair.
Scheduled to launch on coming 16th October, the new Bajaj Urbanite scooter will take on Ather 450 and scooters from Hero Electric and Okinawa. While the official name and details of the electric scooter will be revealed next week, it’s rumoured to be named ‘Bajaj Chetak Chic Electric’.
The Bajaj Chetak electric scooter will carry a retro-classic design along with LED lighting and backlite switchgear. It’s likely to get a fully digital instrument console supporting Bluetooth connectivity. It will also get a USC charger.
Running on multi-spoke alloy wheels, the Bajaj Chetak electric will have a single-sided front suspension with anti-dive function. Braking system will include disc brakes on both wheels as standard. For power, the new Bajaj Urbanite electric scooter is likely to get a lithium-ion battery pack offering a decent range.
