New Bajaj Platina ES

Bajaj Auto, the homegrown automaker has launched the new Platina ES in the country. The company is planning to launch five more bikes in next six months including new Pulsar range- Pulsar 200 SS, Pulsar 160NS, Pulsar 400SS, new Bajaj Discover, etc. The Platina 100 is the cheapest offering from the homegrown automaker, which is doing good business in the market. However, the sales of the bike have been constantly dropped due to growing competition in the form of new Hero Splendor, Hero Passion and Hero’s Dream series. The new Platina ES (Electric Start) variant is claimed to be highly fuel efficient- ‘World’s Mileage Champion’.
The new Bajaj Platina ES is priced at Rs. 44,507 (ex-showroom, Delhi) and is claimed to return an extra-ordinary fuel economy of 96.9kmpl (ARAI Certified). The mileage figure makes it the country’s most fuel efficient bike. The bike is powered by the new 102cc, single-cylinder engine that features Bajaj’s DTSi technology and ExhausTEC. This engine is capable of producing a top power output of 8bhp and 8.7Nm. The same engine also powers the Discover 100M, but it offers high state of tune- 9bhp and 9.02Nm of torque.
Talking about styling, the new Platina looks largely remains the same. However, the company has added new side panels, tweaked headlamps, new body graphics and new exhaust system to keep things fresh in the market.
