Audi India is betting big on the upcoming Audi A3 sedan which is scheduled to go on sale on August 7, 2014. The company is currently dominating the luxury car market of the country. With the A3 sedan, the company is further aiming to strengthen its position in the luxury market.
The new Audi A3 sedan will open an entry-level luxury segment which will be joined by the Mercedes-Benz CLA sedan. The company believes that there is a huge potential in this segment and has already started local production of the model, ahead of its official launch. This premium sedan has received an overwhelming response from customers and dealers have already asked the manufacturer to double the allotment.
The production of the Audi A3 starts at its sister brand Skoda’s Aurangabad facility. It will be Audi India’s first vehicle to be locally developed before launched in the country. The company is currently assembled the A4, A6, Q5, Q3 and Q7 in India.
The Audi A3 sedan will be offered in both petrol and diesel guise. The oil burner has the 2.0-litre engine, while the petrol version is powered by a 1.8-litre turbocharged engine. The new A3 sedan is likely to be priced in the range of Rs. 25-30 lakh. If media reports are to be believed, the company is also working on a price cut version of this sedan, just like Audi Q3 S, which is expected to be priced around Rs. 22 lakh.
