Audi India will launch the much-anticipated Audi A3 sedan in the Indian car market in August, 2014. According to our sources, the company will conduct media drives for the sedan from 9th of July, while the launch will take place in the 1-2 week of August.
Audi A3 sedan will be the company’s cheapest offering in the country. The dealerships have received an overwhelming response from the prospective buyers; however, the bookings for the car are yet to start. The dealers have asked the company to double the numbers of A3 allocated to them. Going by this response, we believe it could be the Audi’s bestselling car in the near future.
Audi A3 sedan will be offered in both petrol and diesel engines- a 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol and 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel. While the petrol version will get the 1.8-litre TFSI unit that produces 168bhp and 320Nm of torque, the oil burner will be powered by the 2.0-litre TDI motor producing 150bhp and 320Nm of torque. Both the engines will be coupled to Audi’s S-Tronic dual clutch transmission which sends the power to the front wheels of the car.
The new Audi A3 sedan is likely to be priced in the range of Rs. 22.26 lakh. If media reports to believe, the company will also launch the price cut version of this sedan, which is likely to be priced around Rs. 20 lakh. It will compete against the Mercedes-Benz CLA sedan which is likely to be launched by early next year.
