Audi India is set to launch the much-awaited A3 sedan in the country on 7th August 2014. The bookings for the car will start from 1st of August at a token amount of Rs. 3.5 lakh. Unveiled at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo, the A3 sedan will be the cheapest Audi’s product in the Indian car market.
Audi is currently leading the luxury car segment of the country. With the A3 sedan, the car manufacturer aiming to further strengthen its position in the market. The production of the Audi A3 has already been started at Skoda’s Aurangabad facility. It will be Audi India’s first vehicle to be locally developed before launched in the Indian market. The new Audi A3 will open an entry level luxury sedan segment. It will compete against the Mercedes-Benz CLA sedan which is likely to go on sale by early next year.
The Audi A3 sedan will be made available in both petrol and diesel fuel options. The oil burner is the 2.0-litre engine that is capable of producing 143bhp and a peak torque of 320Nm. Its gasoline model has 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 180bhp of power and 250Nm of torque. Both the engines are paired to Audi’s S-tronic 7-speed transmission. The new A3 sedan is expected to be priced in the range of Rs. 25-30 lakh.
