Audi India is all set to launch the much-awaited A3 sedan in the Indian car market. The vehicle will go on sale by the 1-2 week of August, next month. Unveiled at the 2014 Delhi Motor Show, the Audi A3 sedan is expected to be company’s bestselling car in the country.
This model is likely to be a huge threat to the likes of Skoda Superb, Hyundai Sonata and Volkswagen Passat. The similar trend was recently seen in the July sales of America where Audi sold over 2400 units of the A3 sedan. The dealerships in India have received an overwhelming response from the prospective buyers, and the dealers have asked the company to double the numbers of A3 allocated to them.
Adding to it, the company will also launch the Audi A3 Cabriolet and A3 hatchback in the Indian market within this year. The A3 sedan will be offered in both petrol and diesel guise. While the petrol version will get the 1.8-litre TFSI unit that produces 168bhp and 320Nm of torque, the oil burner will be powered by the 2.0-litre TDI motor producing 150bhp and 320Nm of torque. Both the engines will be coupled to Audi’s S-Tronic dual clutch transmission which sends the power to the front wheels of the car.
Interestingly, Audi is also planning to launch the price cut version of the A3 sedan in the country which is likely to cost around 22-24 lakh. It will compete against Mercedes-Benz CLA sedan which is likely to be launched by early next year.
