Piaggio has officially released a new teaser image of the upcoming Aprilia SXR 160. This maxi-scooter is likely to be launched in November 2020, which means it will come before the smaller-capacity SXR125. The scooter is expected to cost somewhere around Rs 1.30 lakh.
The Aprilia SXR 160 was first showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo as Cross Maxi concept. The new scooter has been designed and developed in Italy. This new maxi scooter will be introduced as a premium offering in terms of pricing and positioning. The new teaser image partially reveals the front apron of the maxi scooter. It features dual headlamps and integrated LED daytime running lamps.
The Aprilia SXR 160 concept showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo had twin LED headlamps with daytime position lamps, a large dark windscreen, a raised handle bar and LED tail-lights. It will be equipped with a digital instrument console with mileage indicator and smartphone connectivity. The scooter is also expected to feature split glove box with USB charger and lit-up underseat storage.
Powering the Aprilia SXR 160 is a BS6-compliant 160cc, single-cylinder, 3-valve engine that also powers the SR 160. This engine is capable of producing 10.7bhp of power at 7,600rpm and a peak torque of 11.6Nm at 6,000rpm. The scooter is likely to feature 12-inch, 5-spoke alloy wheels. It will have disc brake at front and drum brake at the rear. The SXR 160 will also feature ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System).
