Piaggio owned Italian motorcycle marques, Aprilia has added two new members to its superbike range in the country. The Aprilia Shiver 900 and Dorsoduro 900 motorbikes come at an introductory price of Rs 11.99 lakh and Rs 12.5 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune) respectively, which will be applicable till June 30, 2017. The prices will be revised on 1st July to Rs 13.32 lakh for Shiver 900 and Rs 13.83 lakh for the Dorsuduro 900. The superbikes will be available across five Motoplex dealerships – Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kochi and Pune.
First previewed at EICMA 2016, the Aprilia Shiver 900 and Dorsoduro 900 come as replacement to the Dorsuduro 750 series. In India, these motorbikes will be imported as CBUs (Completely Built Units). The new Aprilia superbikes derive their power from an 896.1 cc Longitudinal 90° V-twin engine paired to a 6-speed gearbox. This motor makes a maximum power output 95.2hp at 8,750rpm and a peak torque of 90Nm at 6,500rpm. For performing damping duties, the Aprilia Shiver 900 gets 41mm upside down fork up front with 120 mm of travel and 130mm monoshock rear suspension setup. On the other hand, the Aprilia Dorsoduro 900 comes fitted with 160mm travel upfront and rear suspension system.
The list of features include a 4.3-inch TFT display (borrowed from the Aprilia Tuono 1100 V4 and Aprilia RSV4), ride by wire and lighter alloy wheels. The superbikes also get an optional AMP kit for smartphone connectivity and a new traction control system. The Dorsoduro 900 comes with the switchable traction control and three riding modes – Sport, Touring and Rain.
With compact dimensions and the steel Trellis and aluminium plates frame, the Aprilia Shiver 900 controls power supply via multiple electronic hardware. While the Aprilia Shiver 900 offers a fuel tank capacity of 15-litre, the Dorsoduro 900 has a smaller 12-litre fuel tank. Both bikes are equipped with 320mm discs up front and a 240mm unit in the rear. Similar to the Continental, the motorbikes get dual channel ABS as standard feature.
