Based on the Tuono 150, the new Aprilia RS 150 is powered by 18bhp, 150cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine with fuel injection
The sporty Aprilia RS 150 fully-faired motorcycle has been unveiled at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. Besides RS 150, the company has introduced a semi-faired Tuono 150cc motorcycle and Strom 125cc scooter at the event. Additionally, the company has launched the Aprilia SR 125 scooter at Rs 63,310 in the country. The Aprilia RS 150 is basically the scaled down versions of Aprilia’s superbikes.
If launched, the Aprilia RS 150 will have a direct competition in the form of new generation Yamaha R15 V3.0. The company is expected to produce this motorcycle in India, which will help to achieve aggressive pricing. Instead of single seat unit in the Tuono 150, the new RS 150 comes with a split seat and offers aggressive riding position. The rider seat seems comfortable, but the rear seat won’t offer a lot of comfort. It is powered by a 150cc, liquid-cooled, fuel injected engine, which is paired to a 6-speed gearbox. Unveiled at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo, the RS 150cc motorcycle will rival the Yamaha R15 V3.0. The company is yet to announce the exact launch date of the bike. It is expected to go on sale in the country in the second half of 2018. We will update you as soon as Aprilia makes an official announcement on the same.
This 150cc fully-faired motorcycle will come at a premium price tag. Though, the company would aim to produce this model locally to achieve good pricing. We believe that this motorcycle would cost around Rs 1.5 lakh.
The Aprilia RS 150 shares mechanics with the Tuono 150. That said, it is powered by a 150cc, liquid-cooled engine with fuel injection. This engine churns out a maximum power output of 18bhp at 10,000rpm and a peak torque of 14Nm at 7,500rpm. For transmitting power, the engine is paired to a 6-speed gearbox. Like the Tuono, this motorcycle also gets a Quick shifter, which enable faster shifts and acceleration.
Suspension mechanism of the bike comprises of 40mm USD front forks with 110 wheel travel and monoshock absorber at the rear with 130mm travel. For braking duties, the bike comes with 300mm disc with radial 4 piston caliper at the front and 218mm disc with single caliper at the rear. It also comes equipped with Bosch ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System).
As the name suggest, the Aprilia RS 150 motorcycle shares design cues with the big Aprilia bikes and carries racing DNA. This motorcycle will appeal at young enthusiasts looking to upgrade to a fast motorcycle at a tight budget. The full fairing and large wind-screen gives it a more aggressive look. Talking about features, the motorcycle gets LED headlamp and LED tail-lamp, ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System), Digital instrument console, split seats, USD front forks, sculpted fuel tank, etc. The footpegs are positioned towards the rear, which offers sporty seating posture.
