Anand L Mahindra, the Chairman of Mahindra Group is in news again and this time for gifting a rugged TUV300 to the 24-year-old badminton player, Kidambi Srikanth. The shuttler recently defeated Olympic Champion Chen Long in the Australian Open to clinch the champion title. Admiring the young player for his win, the Chairman of Mahindra Group took it to twitter and announced gifting him a brand new TUV300. Interestingly, Anand L Mahindra will personally gift him Mahindra TUV300 SUV.

The president of Badminton Association of India (BAI), Himanta BIswa Sarma also announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh for Kidambi on winning the Australian Open Super Series title.

Earlier in May, Anand L Mahindra took notice of the customised auto rikshaw with Scorpio resembling rear that belonged to a Kerala based auto rikshaw driver. While the auto rikshaw was acquired by Mahindra, is now displayed at the Mahindra Museum, the auto driver in turn received a brand new Supromini-truck in exchange of his Scorpio rikshaw.

As Mahindra struggles to retain zenith in the UV segment, the car giant, which currently offers three models in the subcompact SUV space, is now working on a couple of new models including an all new MPV and the 7-seater TUV300 XL among several others. Inspired by the battle tank design, the TUV300 is currently available in five-seat configuration. However, the company is working on a seven-seat version which is commonly referred as TUV500. It will use the same boxy design as the TUV300 with similar headlamps, front grille and fog lamp enclosures. Media reports suggest that the upcoming Mahindra SUV could use the 2.2-litre mHawk oil burner from the XUV500 that is likely to be paired to a five-speed manual unit. In addition, there could either be a new 6-speed Aisin auto box or an AMT unit.
