All-New Toyota Fortuner Could Look Like This! Launch In 2023

Japanese automaker, Toyota has started working on the next-gen Innova and the Fortuner SUV, which will be launched in 2022 and 2023 respectively. It is reported that the all-new Toyota Fortuner could be launched in 2023. The new model will come with all-new design and upgraded cabin along with a new engine option.

Folks at IA.Design have released a new set of renderings of the all-new Toyota Fortuner, which previews the possible design language. The new model will be aligned with the new North American 4Runner. The two SUVs will rescue the strategy used until 2022, when both were practically the same SUVs for different markets.

Both SUVs will be based on the Toyota’s TNGA-F architecture, which also underpins the Tundra and the Sequoia and Land Cruiser SUVs. The same platform will also underpin the Hilux lifestyle pickup truck and the Tacoma. The platform supports a wheelbase length of 2,850-4,180mm. This strategy of using single base for the entire global SUV portfolio will help in reducing costs, development time and achieving considerable gains in economies of scale.

The all-new Toyota Fortuner will come with a new diesel engine with mild hybrid system. It will get the 1GD-FTV 2.8-litre diesel engine with an integrated starter generator (ISG). The new Toyota’s mild-hybrid diesel engine could be called the GD Hybrid. It is likely to offer higher fuel efficiency and added torque on demand.

It will come with engine start/stop system.  With the mild-hybrid system, the new Fortuner can collect kinetic energy during braking or deceleration that can provide an additional torque under acceleration. The new model is expected to offer improved power and torque along with higher fuel efficiency.

Toyota will also launch the next-gen Innova, which is rumoured to be called the Innova HyCross. If reports are to be believed, the new Innova HyCross will make global debut during festive season, around Diwali. It is reportedly to be based on the Toyota’s global TNGA-C or GA-C (Global Architecture). It is likely to have a wheelbase of around 2,850mm, which is 100mm longer than the current Innova Crysta. The new Toyota Innova Hycross will be powered by a 2.0-litre petrol hybrid powertrain. This system has a twin-motor setup calibrated to deliver high ‘step-off’ torque and better efficiency. The new Innova won’t be offered with a diesel engine.
