Japanese automaker, Toyota is preparing a wide range of new model for the South Asian markets. The company will introduce the new Innova HyCross, a new mid-sized SUV and the next-gen Fortuner SUV. A new media report claims that the all-new Toyota Fortuner will be launched in Thailand in 2023.
The all-new Toyota Fortuner will receive significant changes in terms of mechanics. The report claims that the next-gen Fortuner will be based on the Toyota’s TNGA-F platform, which underpins the brand’s big body-on-Frame SUVs & full-size pickup trucks. The platform supports a wheelbase length of 2,850-4,180mm. This architecture currently underpins the Land Cruise J300, Lexus LX, Toyota Sequoia and Toyota Tundra.
The next-gen Toyota Fortuner will come with a new diesel engine with mild-hybrid system. The SUV will receive the 1GD-FTV 2.8-litre diesel engine. Similar to the Suzuki’s mild-hybrid system, the new Fortuner mild hybrid diesel version will come with an integrated starter generator (ISG).
Previous reports suggest that the Toyota’s new mild-hybrid diesel engine could be called the GD Hybrid. The all-new Toyota Fortuner mild-hybrid version is likely to offer higher fuel efficiency and added torque on demand. It will come with engine start/stop system. With the mild-hybrid system, the new Fortuner can collect kinetic energy during braking or deceleration that can provide an additional torque under acceleration. The new model is expected to offer improved power and torque along with higher fuel efficiency.

Moreover, the company will introduce the new Land Cruiser and the new Urban Cruiser in the next couple of months. The new Urban Cruiser will receive new design and all-new interior with several segment-leading features. It will also get the Suzuki’s new 1.5L K15C dual-jet petrol engine with manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox.
