Tata Goshaq Cars

We reported earlier that Tata Motors will launch close to 18 new cars in the Indian market in the next 3-4 years. The company is reportedly working on 2 new sedans based on the new ALFA modular platform. Codenamed Tata Goshaq, the new sedan will be a sub-4 meter sedan to rival the likes of the Honda Amaze and the Maruti Dzire.

The company is also developing a mid-sized sedan, codenamed Peregrin to rival the likes of the Maruti Ciaz, Honda City and the Hyundai Verna. The new ALFA (Advanced, Light, Flexible and Advanced) platform currently underpins the Altroz premium hatchback and the HBX micro SUV, which was unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo.

Tata Peregrin Sedan

It is yet to be confirmed that the new Tata Goshaq sedan will replace the Tigor sub-4 meter sedan or the next-gen Tigor. The sedan is most likely to share the engine specifications with the Altroz premium hatchback, which includes a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder Revotron petrol and a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbo-diesel. Both manual and automatic versions are likely to be on offer. It is expected that the Tata Goshaq will be launched in 2022. The sedan could be unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo.

The new Tata ALFA modular platform is compatible enough to accommodate various body styles including hatchbacks, sedans, MPVs and compact SUVs. The company has already confirmed that this platform will be used to develop products up to 4.3 meters in length. The ALFA architecture offers a flat floor to offer maximum legroom. This platform is also compatible to accommodate multiple powertrain options including petrol, diesel, hybrid and electric.

Tata E-Vision Sedan

Tata Motors is currently gearing up for the launch of the Gravitas 7-seater SUV, which was unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo. The new SUV will rival the likes of the MG Hector Plus and the Mahindra XUV500. It will be powered by a 170bhp, 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine with manual and automatic gearbox options. The homegrown automaker will launch an all-new micro SUV based on the HBX concept in India in early 2021.
