New Peugeot 208 is based on the PSA Group’s latest generation vehicle platform, CMP (Common Modular Platform).

French automaker, Peugeot has revealed the new-generation Peugeot 208 hatchback. The hatchback is scheduled to make global debut at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show starting from March 5. The new model is available in 3 engine options – electric, petrol and diesel. The 2019 Peugeot 208 also mark the debut of new generation Peugeot i-Cockpit including a 3D head-up display and myriad driving aids.

New Peugeot 208 is based on the PSA Group’s latest generation vehicle platform, CMP (Common Modular Platform). As its name implies, the CMP platform is adaptable in terms of dimensions and engine variants. The new model is claimed to be 30kg lighter than the previous model.

2019 Peugeot 208 Hatchback Reveal

The new model is longer, wider and lower than the outgoing Peugeot 208. The hatchback comes with full LED 3-claw headlight, signature Peugeot grille, sculpted bonnet and newly designed bumper. From the side, new Peugeot 208 reveals its pared-back windscreen that allows space for a longer, sculpted bonnet. The rear end of new Peugeot 208 stands out with its black band running over the width of the boot lid, linking the 3-claw lights (which are also day-running). The rear diffuser is available in a gloss black finish and, depending on the engine variant, may be enhanced by a chrome exhaust tail pipe. The new-gen Peugeot 208 is claimed to offer 208 storage spaces. In addition to the door bins and glovebox, there are 3 storage areas along the vehicle (depending on version):

– A large storage area under the armrest between the front seats
– An easy-access tray in front of the gear lever
– A clever concealable storage space in the central console can be used to discreetly induction-charge a smartphone. The cover rear section is designed to enable a smartphone to the positioned in the open position.

Peugeot has been testing the current 208 hatchback on Indian roads. The French automaker is also planning to enter India with city cars including a hatchback, sedan and a compact SUV. The company could opt for the new 208 hatchback for the Indian market.
