All-New Nissan Juke Compact SUV Coming This Year

The second-gen Nissan Juke will be based on the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance’s V-platform

The Nissan Juke has been one of the most funkiest and stylish looking compact crossover currently on sale in international markets. Launched in 2010, the Nissan Juke is almost 9 years old and has started showing its age. In fact, the slow sales has forced the Japanese brand to discontinue the vehicle in the U.S. Nissan has already introduced the Nissan Kicks in select international markets where Juke didn’t performed well. However, the company has started working on the second-generation Juke that is likely to be unveiled sometime later this year.

Speaking to AutoCar, Nissan’s global design boss, Alfonso Albaisa said, “It doesn’t look like IMx or new Leaf, either”. “It’s an urban meteor with a nasty attitude” He added.

The report further claims that the next-generation Nissan Juke will be developed on the company’s V-platform that currently underpins the Renault Clio and Nissan Micra. However, this platform will be stretched to accommodate a bigger model. The SUV will be available in multiple engine options ranging from a 3-cylinder 0.9-litre to a 1.2-litre 4-cylinder that will produce between 90bhp to 115bhp. These engines currently power the Micra and Qashqai. The company could also introduce the diesel version, which is likely to receive the 110bhp, 1.5-litre unit. A 4-wheel-drive system could also be on offer. Also See – Nissan Leaf India Launch Confirmed For 2019

The second-gen Nissan Juke could debut in the coming months and is likely to enter into production line towards the end of 2019. It is expected to carry the same funky design as its predecessor. The testing of the model is yet to be started, which speculates that the company could initially showcase the concept model to gauge people response.
