The new Maruti Suzuki Ertiga 2018 receives significant design upgrades and lots of new features.

The new-generation Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is finally here. Launched at a starting price of Rs 7.44 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the new Maruti Ertiga 2018 receives comprehensive aesthetic, feature and mechanical upgrades.

While the petrol variants have been priced from Rs 7.44 lakh to Rs 9.95 lakh, the diesel trims range from Rs 8.84 lakh to Rs 10.90 lakh (all, ex-showroom Delhi). 1. New Petrol Engine

One of the major changes have been made to the underpinning and engine of the new Maruti Ertiga 2018. The MPV’s new model features the company’s lightweight HEARTECT platform along with a new 1.5L K15B SHVS petrol engine replacing the old 1.4L petrol unit. The diesel version, on the other hand, retains the tired-and-tested 1.3L Multijet engine generating power worth 89bhp and 200Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic. One must note that the automatic gearbox is offered only on the VXi and ZXi petrol trims.

2. India’s Most Fuel Efficient MPV

Maruti Suzuki claims that the new Ertiga petrol delivers a mileage between 19.34kmpl (MT) – 18.69kmpl (AT). The diesel variants are also slightly more frugal than before, returning claimed fuel economy of 25.47kmpl. This also makes the new Maruti Ertiga 2018 India’s most fuel efficient MPV. 3. Bigger Than Before

Dimensions have also been revised. The new Maruti Ertiga 2018 is now 4395mm long, 1735mm wide and 1690mm tall. While its ground clearance has been trimmed down to 180mm, the wheelbase remains unchanged at 2740mm. Read: New Maruti Baleno Facelift – Top 5 Changes

4. All New Design

Compared to the old model, the new Maruti Ertiga 2018 looks sportier and more refreshing. Upfront, the MPV gets a larger chrome grille with chrome detailing, revised bumper, new projector headlamps and foglamp assembly and black C-shaped cladding. Styling bits such as newly-designed alloy wheels, new electrically operable ORVMs with integrated turn signal lights, new waistline and side creases, chrome handles add more to its new look.

5. More Feature Laden

The dual-tone (Beige & Brown) interior with all-new dashboard with integrated SmartPlay infotainment system (top-spec only) looks premium. The new infotainment unit supports Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and navigation system. The rear parking camera and leather wrapped steering wheel are also reserved for the high-end ZXi+ and ZDi+ trims. The MPV carline also comes with a flat bottom steering wheel with mounted audio and telephony controls, a new twin-pot instrument cluster with a MID unit, automatic climate control, fabric upholstery, faux wooden inserts, wide air-con vents, start-stop button, reverse camera with parking sensors, multiple USB charging ports and keyless entry. Read – New Maruti Alto Will Be India’s Most Fuel Efficient Car 

Safety features such as dual airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat mounts, rear parking sensors, speed sensitive door locks and central locking are standard across the range. The ESP and hill hold function are made available only on the automatic variants.
