All-New Maruti 800cc Entry-Level Car In The Works – Report

We informed you earlier that Maruti Suzuki is readying a wide range of new products for the Indian market. The company will introduce an all-new above 4 meter UV, XL5 UV-styled hatchback and the 5-door Jimny in India in the next 2 years. What’s more interesting is that the Indo-Japanese brand is also working on an all-new 800cc entry-level car.

According to the Emkay Global Financial Services report, Maruti Suzuki is also planning to re-introduce BS6 compliant diesel models in India. Maruti is likely to launch the Brezza, Ciaz, Ertiga and the XL6 with the BSVI compliant 1.5L diesel engine. Adding to it, the upcoming mid-sized SUV is also likely to use the same diesel engine.

It is expected that the new 800cc entry-level car will replace the current Alto hatchback, which was launched back in 2012. The new hatchback is most likely to be based on the Suzuki HEARTECT-K platform, which also underpins the S-Presso and the new WagonR. The upcoming hatchback will receive the BSVI compliant 800cc engine that produces 47bhp and 69Nm of torque. Both manual and AMT versions are likely to be on offer.

In order to compete well against the Renault Kwid, Maruti Suzuki could equip the new 800cc hatchback with some modern features. It is likely to receive Suzuki’s smartplay infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support and power windows. Dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors, seat belt reminder and speed alert will come as standard.
