All-New Mahindra XUV500 Will Be Safer & More Premium

The new-generation Mahindra XUV500 will be based on new platforms that SsangYong and Mahindra are developing together.

We informed you earlier that Mahindra will give a major makeover to its four popular SUVs including Bolero & Thar. The company has already started working on the next-gen Mahindra XUV500, which will be launched before April 2020. Not just XUV500, the homegrown automaker will also launch the new-gen Scorpio in 2020.

The new-generation Mahindra XUV500 will be based on new platforms that SsangYong and Mahindra are developing together. What’s more interesting is that the new platform will be used by Ford Motor Company for its future C-SUV. This new SUV will meet the global emissions and crash safety regulations. The next XUV500 will have better structural integrity and more features to meet the upcoming crash test norms. In the Australian crash test, the current model scored 4 star rating. With next-gen model, Mahindra is aiming to score 5 star rating. The next-gen Mahindra XUV500 platform will also be compatible to accommodate electric powertrain. The SUV is expected to be powered by a refined 2.2-litre mHawk turbocharged diesel engine, which will be compatible with BS6 emission norms. Mahindra will soon launch an all-new 7-seater SUV – codenamed Y400 – in the country by the end of this month. Likely to be called Mahindra XUV700, the new 7-seater SUV will be brand’s most expensive model in India. It will rival the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and the newly launched Honda CR-V.
