Mahindra has recently launched the much-anticipated XUV300 sub-4 meter SUV in India. This is the brand’s first model to be based on the SsangYong X100’s platform, which also underpins the Tivoli SUV. Mahindra is also working on the new-generation versions of the existing SUVs including Thar, Bolero, XUV500 and Scorpio. Adding to it, the homegrown automaker will give facelift to the TUV300 compact SUV.

This year, the company will introduce the TUV300 facelift in the second quarter of 2019. The SUV has already been spotted multiple times while testing on Indian roads. This sub-4 meter SUV will receive subtle design upgrades in the form of new grille, revised bumper and new alloy wheels. Interior will also be revised for better digital experience. It will be equipped with a touchscreen infotainment system, which will be compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The Mahindra TUV300 facelift will be powered by the existing 1.5-litre mHawk diesel engine that produces 100bhp of power.

Mahindra will also launch the new-gen Thar in the country in the second half of this year. The new model is expected to arrive during Diwali, 2019. It will be based on the new Gen3 platform, which also underpins the latest Scorpio and TUV300. The new model will meet the upcoming crash test norms and will be equipped with standard safety features including dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, seatbelt reminder, speed alert and rear parking sensors.

The new-generation Mahindra Thar will be powered by a new BSVI compliant diesel engine. It will retain the existing rugged profile, though there will be cosmetic changes to keep things fresh in the market. Previous media reports claim that the new Thar will be powered by a new 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine, which will be more powerful than the existing 105bhp, 2.5-litre engine. It is expected that the new engine could offer around 140bhp of power and over 300Nm of torque.
