This 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine will be cleaner and more powerful engine, but it will increase the cost of the next-gen Scorpio. The next gen model will be based on the modified version of the body-on-ladder frame, which will also underpin the new Thar and Bolero SUVs. Compared to the recently launched Tata Harrier, the next-gen Scorpio will be around 10bhp more powerful. The Harrier is powered by a 140bhp, 2.0-litre KRYOTEC turbo-diesel engine.
The next-gen Scorpio is also expected to receive a petrol engine. It is likely to get a new 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which can be tuned to offer up to 217PS of maximum power. The all-new Scorpio will come with an all-new design. It is likely to be designed by Mahindra’s design house with the help of Mahindra owned Italian design house – Pininfarina.
