New 2021 Mahindra Scorpio

Mahindra is working on the next generation Scorpio, Thar and the XUV500. These models will be launched in the Indian market this year. It was reported that the next generation Thar will be launched at the 2020 Auto Expo; however, new media reports claim that Mahindra has decided to introduce the new Thar at a separate event after the event.

Mahindra has also announced to unveil 18 vehicles including passenger cars, commercial cars and electric vehicles. 3 new electric cars along with an all-new concept will be unveiled at the biennial event. It is expected that the next generation Mahindra Scorpio SUV will make global debut at the Auto Expo 2020, while launch is expected in the second quarter of 2020.

Mahindra has already started testing the next generation Scorpio SUV, revealing some of the design changes. The new model will receive significant design changes; however, the original rugged styling will remain intact. The SUV will grow in size, and is longer and wider than the outgoing model. It will be offered with multiple seating options including the forward facing third row of seats. Also See – New Mahindra Cars at Auto Expo 2020

The new Mahindra Scorpio will be based on the modified version of the existing platform, which will also underpin the next Thar. The SUV will receive all-new dashboard and a large touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Going by the spy pictures, it is visible that the SUV’s interior will be inspired by the Mahindra Alturas G4. Adding to it, the Scorpio will receive drive mode selector for controlling throttle and steering response.

If media reports are to be believed, the 2020 Mahindra Scorpio could receive a Head-Up Display (HUD) unit mounted on dashboard in front of the driver’s seat. Adding to it, the SUV is likely to receive an all-digital instrument console.

The 2020 Mahindra Scorpio will receive an all-new 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbo-diesel engine that is likely to produce around 160bhp of power and torque around 400Nm. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual. The company will also introduce the petrol version of the SUV, which is likely to get new BSVI compliant 2.0-litre turbocharged unit.
