All-New Kia Carnival Likely to be unveiled in September 2020

Kia Carnival Front Design

If reports are to be believed, the new Kia Carnival could be unveiled in the second half of 2020 – most probably in September. Going by the spy images available on the Internet, it is visible that the new model will grow in size. Though the spotted model was heavily covered in cloth, some of the design highlights are visible. The spotted model was equipped with fake panels, and loose material over the door.

The MPV gets a bigger grille, and appears to have a steeper rake. The MPV will also receive newly styled narrow headlamps. The MPV retains the existing look, though the design features will be updated. The rear profile was completely covered, not revealing much about the design. It is reported that the next-gen Kia Carnival could receive all-wheel-drive layout as an option. The existing platform is not compatible for the all-wheel-drive layout. It will be based on the new third-generation N3 platform, which also underpins the new Kia Sorento. The engineers will also add revised rear suspension layout.

The next-gen Carnival will be powered by the same 2.2-litre 4-cylinder diesel engine that powers the existing model and the Sorento SUV. This engine is capable of producing 198bhp and 440Nm of torque. Instead of the 8-speed torque convertor, the upcoming Carnival is likely to get an 8-speed wet-plate DCT.

Going by the response for the Carnival, Kia could bring the next-gen model sooner than expected. The company is now gearing up for the launch of the much-awaited Sonet sub-4 meter SUV, which will rival the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport and others. Adding to it, the company is planning to bring some of its global models in India.
