All-new Hyundai MPV Might Launch in India
The all-new Hyundai compact MPV will share platform with the new-gen Santro.
It is no secret that Hyundai will launch a sub-4 meter SUV in India in the first half of 2019. Called the Hyundai Styx, the sub-4 meter SUV is scheduled to make its global debut at the 2019 New York Motor Show in April. This SUV is built on the new-gen Santro’s platform, which will also underpin the new-gen Grand i10. This model will also mark the debut of brand’s new 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a new 1.5-litre diesel engine.
What’s interesting is that the company is also evaluating a compact MPV for the Indian market. According to the NDTV Auto, the Korean automaker could use the Santro’s platform to develop this MPV. This compact MPV is likely to be launched in India, Korea and Europe. Details about this MPV are yet to be revealed. Also See – Hyundai STYX – 5 Things To Know
For people not in the know, Hyundai had showcased the Hexa Space MPV concept at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo. However, this MPV was scrapped owing to the low demand for such vehicles in the market. Seeing the growing demand for affordable people movers, Hyundai could bring such vehicle in the market. It is expected to challenge the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the upcoming Renault RBC MPV.
Hyundai’s sister brand, KIA is also working on a sub-4 meter SUV for the Indian market. This model will also use the Santro’s platform. It is expected to be launched in 2020 and will be the brand’s second SUV in the Indian market.
