All-New Hyundai i20 N Testing Begins; Global Debut Next Year
Hyundai India is gearing up to launch the new- generation Grand i10 Nios on 20th August, 2019. The carmaker will also give a generation change to its highly popular Hyundai i20 premium hatchback sometime next year. The 2020 Hyundai i20 might make its first public appearance at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo.
The South Korean carmaker has also begun testing the performance oriented Hyundai i20 N that takes on the Ford Fiesta ST in the global market. Exterior styling and interior of the 2020 Hyundai i20 N shares resemblance to the regular i20 hatchback. Though, the former gets a slightly tweaked chassis, upgraded suspension setup and braking system along with a more powerful engine.
The hot hatch features larger Hyundai N alloy wheels, bigger brakes and twin exhausts at the rear. Compared to the regular i20, the performance oriented i20 N sits slightly lower with slightly increased length. Similarly the new i30, the 2020 Hyundai i20 N will witness a power jump. The hot hatch uses a 1.6L direct injection turbocharged petrol engine paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox. It delivers power close to 200bhp. Talking about the new Hyundai i20, the premium hatchback will be wider and more upmarket than the current generation. Similar to the Euro spec model, the one coming to India might offer a sunroof along with improved styling and a more feature packed interior. It will also get a new 1.0L 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine along with the BS6-ready 1.2L petrol and 1.4L diesel powertrains.
