All-new Hyundai i20, Creta to Debut at Auto Expo 2020

Korean automaker, Hyundai is gearing up for the launch of an all-new compact sedan, called the Aura in India. Scheduled to be launched in January 2020, the new Hyundai Aura will replace the ageing Xcent sedan in the passenger vehicle segment. It will directly rival the likes of the Maruti Dzire, Honda Amaze, Ford Aspire and the Tata Tigor. The company will also launch the next generation Creta and the Elite i20 hatchback in the first half of 2020.

Hyundai will unveil the next generation Elite i20 and the Creta SUV at the 2020 Auto Expo. Both models have already been spotted testing multiple times on the Indian roads. It is expected that one of the two models will be launched before April 2020. The new Hyundai Creta has already been launched in China as the new ix25. However, the India-spec model will look slightly different from the Chinese spec model.

The 2020 Hyundai Creta is based on the modified version of the existing platform, which also underpins the Kia Seltos. Design of the SUV is inspired by the bigger Hyundai SUVs including Palisade and the new Santa Fe. It gets all-new interior with a large portrait touchscreen infotainment system along with Hyundai’s latest connectivity features (BlueLink Connected Car Features) and cloud based functions. The SUV will also receive a factory-fitted sunroof, automatic climate control, powered front seats, etc.

The new Hyundai Creta will receive new BS6 compliant 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines. Adding to it, the company will also introduce the turbocharged petrol version of the SUV. All the engine options will come with manual as well as automatic options.

The new Hyundai Elite i20 will also receive significant design changes and all-new cabin; however, the overall profile will remain the same. It will be wider, and rides on longer wheelbase to create more cabin space. The hatchback will also receive a large touchscreen infotainment system with BlueLink connectivity, electric sunroof, automatic climate control, push-button start, etc.

The new Hyundai Elite i20 will be offered with 3 engine options – a 1.5-litre diesel, a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol and a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol. The hatchback will also receive a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, which will be first in its category.
